Betty Rountree Education Grant

The RGVCTM offers several $500 grants to potential and current mathematics teachers each academic school year.

Our goal is to assist individuals who plan continued study leading toward a mathematics teaching certification or who desire to continue studies in undergraduate and/or graduate work in mathematics or mathematics education.

Teachers or paraprofessionals who are current members of RGVCTM and have successfully completed a college level mathematics or mathematics education course may apply for a grant. A member may receive, at most, one grant during each academic school year.  The grant money is to be used to help defray tuition and textbook costs for any mathematics or mathematics education course.

A member should apply for a grant following the successful completion of a mathematics/mathematics education course, with a grade of "C" or better.  Grants will only be awarded only after a course is completed and proof of completion as well as the course grade will be required before the monetary award is issued.

All applications are due by August 31 each year.  RGVCTM will be awarding these grants beginning June 1, of each year.  Since the RGVCTM will award at most seven (7) grants per academic year, it will withhold its decision on awards until September 15 of each year.  Should you be one of the awardees, you will be issued a $500 check on or about September 30 of that year.

Applications should be mailed to:

Frank Rivera, 1007 Adams, Mission, TX 78572.

The following items MUST be included with your application:

        (a)  Completion of Betty Rountree Grant application form

        (b)  An official record of the college mathematics/mathematics education course completed between September 1 and August 31 that shows your course grade.
